Where are the parts made?

Currently through a manufacturing partner overseas with air freight, which is still substantially faster than a specialist batch of one locally. Bringing the capability into Canada is the plan as volume justifies it.

Is this a permanent replacement or a stopgap?

It is designed as a bridge while the proper component is manufactured. Some parts turn out to work well enough that they become permanent, but that is a separate decision with its own qualification, not something to assume on day one.

Are there parts you will not print?

Yes. Pressure vessel components, lifting equipment, anything carrying a code stamp or performing a safety function, and any part where a printed substitute would void a certification. A fast part is never worth that exposure.

Will a printed part be as strong as the original?

Sometimes, sometimes not, and you will be told which before you order. Printed metal can equal or exceed a casting in some directions and is weaker across layers. The honest answer depends on the material, the process and how the part is loaded. Where a printed part will not do the job, we will say so rather than sell you one.

What if we do not have a drawing for the part?

That is the normal case with older equipment. Send photographs of the failed component with a rule or calipers beside it, or ship us the part itself. It gets measured and modelled, and you get the CAD file afterwards whether or not you order, so the drawing exists next time.

Can you really make a replacement part faster than the original manufacturer?

Often, yes, and for a specific reason. A specialised component is a batch of one, so it sits in a queue behind production runs and takes three or four weeks. A printed part skips the queue and the tooling entirely. It usually costs more per part and arrives in days. Whether that trade is worth it depends on what an idle line costs you per shift, which is a number you already know.

What is the real difference between two sensors that look identical on paper?

Usually where the manufacturer spent their money. Some build excellent hardware and ship a bare SDK, which means a programmer owns the project. Others build configurable measurement software a technician can set up the same afternoon, on hardware that is slightly less impressive. Capability is often close. The difference shows up in who inside your company has to make it work, and how long that takes.

Will you tell me if a competitor's product is better for my application?

Yes, and we do it regularly. There are very few genuinely bad products in this category, only products being asked to do something they were not built for. If what you already have is the right answer, or another supplier fits the duty better, you will be told that. Ontario is a small market and a bad recommendation costs far more than a lost order.

How did you choose these suppliers?

Responsiveness as much as specification. We asked every one of them the awkward questions: scan rate at full output, who the certificate is actually issued to, what happens when this fails in Ontario. A supplier who cannot answer that in a week cannot support you in production, and most did not make it through.

What happens if a unit fails in production?

You call us. We handle the warranty claim, the freight and the replacement with the manufacturer directly, so it is not sitting on your desk. Where a fast turnaround matters for a particular line, tell us before you order and we will work out an arrangement that suits it.

What exactly am I paying for if you are not the manufacturer?

The filtering and the risk. Finding equipment like this means contacting manufacturer after manufacturer, most of whom look identical online, and discovering slowly which ones send real datasheets, answer a technical question inside a week, and are still going to exist in three years. We did that. You describe a problem once instead of running that process yourself, and if the equipment fails the warranty claim is our job rather than yours.

Are you a Canadian company?

Yes. Uppal Automation Inc. is Canadian owned and operated, incorporated in Ontario, Corporation No. 1001609892. You deal with a Canadian business, you are invoiced in Canadian dollars by a Canadian entity, and the person who quotes you is the person who supports you afterward.

Where do the products come from?

We are a distributor, so the equipment is manufactured internationally, the same as almost everything sold in this category including the brands you already buy. What is Canadian is the company, the support, the warranty handling and the accountability. Country of origin is stated on every quote before you commit to anything.

How does buying through you compare with importing directly?

You get one Canadian invoice with duty, customs clearance and freight already handled, in Canadian dollars, with no currency exposure and no broker to chase. If something fails you call a number in Ontario rather than emailing a factory eight time zones away. Direct import is cheaper on paper and considerably more expensive when something goes wrong.

Do you hold stock?

Some items, and we say plainly which. Most equipment is confirm then order, which is how we keep prices down rather than funding a warehouse you pay for in the margin. Every quote carries a real lead time, not an optimistic one.

What certification do the products carry?

It depends on the product and we will not guess. Mains connected equipment sold in Ontario needs certification by an SCC accredited body, usually CSA, cUL or Intertek ETL, and the Electrical Safety Authority enforces it. Battery and low voltage equipment generally does not. We confirm the certification per model, in writing, and we will tell you when it is still pending rather than implying it exists.

Can you cross reference a part I already use?

Yes, and it is most of what we do. Send a nameplate photo, a part number or a datasheet. You will get the closest equivalent we can supply along with a written note on every point where it differs. We never claim an exact match, because on an imported equivalent there almost never is one.

Why are your prices lower than the brands I know?

Mostly because we do not carry the cost structure. A large direct sales organisation with regional offices, a demo fleet and a commissioned rep on every account is expensive, and that expense is in the price you pay. We are a small distributor with published specifications and no commissioned salespeople.

What is the catch with cheaper equipment?

Usually software and support depth. Premium brands often ship configurable measurement tools a technician can set up, where a lower cost sensor may ship an SDK and a data stream that needs a programmer. We ask that question of every supplier and we tell you the answer before you order, because it changes who inside your company owns the project.

What happens if it fails?

You contact us, not the factory. We handle the warranty claim, the shipping and the replacement. Warranty terms are stated on the quote per product rather than buried in a policy page.

Do you offer a trial or a demo?

Send us the part you need to measure and we will scan it and send you the data before you buy anything. For larger commitments we arrange a demo unit. This is the fastest way to find out whether a sensor suits your application, and it costs you nothing.

What if I do not know exactly what I need?

That is normal and it is the situation we prefer. Describe the problem rather than the product. What failed, what it was doing, what you are trying to measure. The specification is our job.

Can you handle 50 Hz to 60 Hz motor differences?

Yes, and it is the single most common mistake on imported motors. A 50 Hz motor run on 60 Hz turns roughly 20 percent faster and its torque, cooling and shaft loading all change. Frame standards differ too, since NEMA T frames and IEC metric frames are not interchangeable without an adapter base. Every deviation goes in writing on the quote.

Do you work with integrators and OEMs?

Yes. Machine builders and integrators get volume pricing, CAD files where available, and direct technical contact rather than a ticket queue. Tell us the build volume and we will quote accordingly.

How quickly do you respond?

Same day on quotes and technical questions during business hours, Eastern Time. If a line is down, call rather than email.

Why are some specifications marked provisional?

Because they are. Where a manufacturer has not yet confirmed a figure in writing, we say so and list what is outstanding rather than publishing a number we cannot stand behind. Most suppliers hide that. We would rather you know which figures are solid before you design around them.

Do you sell to the United States?

Yes, and we quote in US dollars with duties handled. Certification requirements differ, so a product certified for Canada is confirmed separately against UL, ETL or the relevant NRTL listing for your state.
